A couple of weeks ago, Hilary & I attended an excellent Meditation Posture Lesson conducted by Phil Petachenko, a well-known chiropractor who has been practicing in Encinitas for many years. His office is at 660 2nd. Street. Phil is a serious meditator & has developed a deep insight into the correct posture & alignment necessary for comfort & balance in longer periods of meditation.

As members of Self-Realization Fellowship, Hilary and I have had a regular meditation practice for many years. Nevertheless, in longer meditations, I would often experience discomfort in my legs, upper back & shoulders. Attending Phil's Meditation Posture Lesson brought certain alignment factors to my awareness that demonstrated the tremendous importance of establishing a proper base & alignment for comfort in meditation. Phil's Lesson includes both chair alignment & your own favorite cross-legged position. He pointed out that once our alignment is properly established, one actually become MORE comfortable as one sits for longer meditations. We whole-heartedly recommend Phil's Posture Lesson for all serious meditators.
